When I visited the Islands I did so as a guest into the Hawaiian Martial Arts communities of Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu and Shaolin Tang Lang Kung Fu. Little did I know that I was being summoned by spirits far older than me to partake in a ritual of greeting. This is a series of poems that were inspired by those ancestor spirits.
