A short story. In the far future, aliens wielding mysterious technologies colonize a planet that knows itself only as Terran. Decades after the Terrans cast off their oppressors, toxins begin leaking from the aliens' artifacts, poisoning the fisheries upon which the Terrans depend. Thus begins a desperate race to discover the alien's secrets for space travel so their people can find a new home before it's too late.
