Our common enemy, Satan, and his multitude of followers are real. They want to capture us in their chains of temptation, addiction, and deceit. However, they can be resisted and they can be bound. How will this happen? Who is going to bind the enemy? We learn from the prophet Nephi that the enemy will be bound during the Millennium through the purity of the hearts of the followers of God. “Because of the righteousness of [the Lord’s] people, Satan has no power; wherefore, he cannot be loosed for the space of many years; for he hath no power over the hearts of the people, for they dwell in righteousness” (1 Nephi 22:26). Before the Millennium arrives, we can become masters at overcoming and binding our common enemy as our hearts are changed and purified so that “we have no more disposition to do evil” (Mosiah 5:2).
