When Painted With Deceit by Shana Frost is the 7th installment of her popular Aileen and Callen Murder Mystery Series. Each is a stand-alone, exciting, and engaging mystery, but reading them in order allows the reader to watch the characters develop over the timeline. The main characters are fully three dimensional, with abundant talents and positive traits, as well as personal baggage that occasionally comes through to interfere with their current actions and relationships. When Painted With Deceit brings suspense and danger from its beginning to its satisfying, but unexpected ending. Fortunately, there are sufficient humorous, compassionate, and heart-warming moments to allow your heart rate and rapid breathing to calm and recuperate. From the shocks to the deep sighs, I highly recommend this book. It’s like returning to a place you might like to live with people who have become friends and family.
