One of People’s Best Books to Read in February

A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.

Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again...

Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….

Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

Great romance! I thought I was done with werewolves and vampires. However, this is a much more involved and adult read than Twilight.

Easy, Enjoyable read. I thought the spicy stuff was awkwardly written at times and didn’t really like the alpha dominance during the spicy scenes later in book. But I respect her interpretation of this about weres. Not related to this book, but I feel like most fantasy books these days are written with the hopes of becoming a movie. It kinda annoys me bc it lacks originality.

One of the best books I’ve read in a while. Some cliches of course- but that’s why we read this stuff right? The main character is not annoying and it’s not narrated like she’s the best thing since sliced bread. Literally could not put this book down .
  • Everything a great novel should be

Beyond more than, “couldn’t put it down” good, I absolutely devoured this book and will impatiently wait for the sequel. There’s something so magnetizing about the characters that kept me staying up way too late as an already exhausted mother of three.

Listen, I'm army crawling my way to 40. I haven't accidentally stayed awake all night to read a book since my college days 20 years ago. Well, this one broke that trend. I read the whole thing overnight, and it's well worth the sleep hangover. Literally couldn't put it down after page 65 or so.
