Description

In this companion to her acclaimed 2005 novel, A Dog's Life, Ann M. Martin tells the parallel stories of a stray dog (the brother of the dog featured in A Dog's Life), a boy dealing with unspeakable loss, and a boy whose most ardent wish is to own a dog—and everything for a dog.

Bone and his sister, Squirrel, are stray dogs born in a shed. Left motherless as puppies, the two dogs survive together for a while, but are soon wrenched apart. Bone doesn't know if his sister is still alive, and must now go on, alone.

Charlie is a boy who has suffered a terrible loss. And, as he's healing with the help of his dog, another tragedy occurs.

Henry's best friend has moved away. All Henry has wanted is a dog of his own. But his parents won't let him.

Bone, Charlie, and Henry live very different lives, but they are fated to intersect in surprising ways. Award-winning author Ann M. Martin has written a powerful, heartfelt novel that's perfect for anyone who has ever longed for a dog, or loved one.

Whether six and a half or sixty five, this story is the stuff that make for happy dreams. Sure, there are sad parts, but even then, there remains a sense of hope and Love.

This is the best book about a dog I had ever read. Also, I cried 2 times, when Bone and Squirrel were thrown out of a car, and when they were separated. Very touching book.

This book is a VERY heart-warming story, and Ioved how it was told from three different point of views. It was very sad at times, but i couldn't put the book down. It was amazing, and just opened my heart even more to dogs. I found myself thinking of the book during school hours, and even in my dreams. It was a heart- throbbing story, that has stayed with me for a long time. I recommend this book to all lovers of dogs. Also, i found myself trying to find out how all three stories connected. I was so into the book, it amazed my parents. I read the whole book in just two days. This book is amazing, and no one can change my opinion. Thank you!

I loved this book! It was so sad but it was really touching. I was literally walking around reading it, it was so good!! It has three different perspectives, and at the beginning, they didn't have anything to do with each other. But the closer it gets to the end, the three characters piece together perfectly. I guarantee if you don't cry while you are are reading this book, you will at least be close to tears or sad. I definetly recommend this book.

This is the best book I've ever read. I've also read part one which is called "a dogs life" which is in the perspective of the other dog's life, Squirrel.
