Description

When an LAPD narcotics officer is found with a fatal bullet wound and a suicide note, Detective Harry Bosch follows a bloody trail of drug murders across the Mexico border.

Working the case, LAPD detective Harry Bosch is reminded of the primal police rule he learned long ago: Don't look for the facts, but the glue that holds them together. Soon Harry's making some very dangerous connections, starting with a dead cop and leading to a bloody string of murders that wind from Hollywood Boulevard to the back alleys south of the border. Now this battle-scarred veteran will find himself in the center of a complex and deadly game—one in which he may be the next and likeliest victim.

Great story which takes place mostly in Mexico and deals with crooked cops, drugs and smuggling. Not my favorite Bosch book but a good one
  • Satisfyingly complex.

This is the second time I read this book. The last time was 20+ years ago. It has a wonderfully detailed and complicated plot. I shouldn’t have waited so long to re-read it. But then again, it kept me guessing all the way through, even though I read it before.

Even though this is one of Connelly’s older books the characters are so outlined. He sets the stage for future Harry Bosch stories and I’m ready.

Exciting story, but it dragged out too long.

I think this is the best written of the Bosch series. Perhaps The Last Coyote comes close. The latest books seem to be written by a committee but this is literature. Don’t get me wrong. I still love the latest books. But this book rings true to the heart. And is so well written and beautiful in prose and style. It is nothing but a masterpiece. They should teach this in the English departments in colleges. Teach how this genre brings forth truths and angst and love like any great book. And no one does it better than Connelly. No one.

Great read! I kinda hoped my guess about a particular direction might be interesting and it turned out to be a good guess! I don’t want to say much more if you catch my drift. Connelly hits another winner! Enjoy!

I have read quite a few Bosch books. But this one was probably my favorite. Never boring, great characterization, an enjoyable read through out.
