Description

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of None of This Is True comes “her best thriller yet” (Harlan Coben, New York Times bestselling author) about a young couple’s disappearance on a gorgeous summer night, and the mother who will never give up trying to find them.

On a beautiful summer night in a charming English suburb, a young woman and her boyfriend disappear after partying at the massive country estate of a new college friend.

One year later, a writer moves into a cottage on the edge of the woods that border the same estate. Known locally as the Dark Place, the dense forest is the writer’s favorite place for long walks and it’s on one such walk that she stumbles upon a mysterious note that simply reads, “DIG HERE.”

Could this be a clue towards what has happened to the missing young couple? And what exactly is buried in this haunted ground?

“Utterly gripping with richly drawn, hugely compelling characters, this is a first-class thriller with heart” (Lucy Foley, New York Times bestselling author) that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Lisa Jewell’s novel, “The Night She Disappeared “, is an excellent read. The plot was well thought out with creative story lines. It read as if Ms Jewell was gifted with the ability to bring the characters in the novel to life. With crazy, yet believable experiences. We have all encountered someone like Scarlet and her terribly dysfunctional family at some point in our lives. As well as a loving, confused young adult with a baby out of wedlock, like Tallulah, who discovers the young abusive father of her child is turning out to be nothing like she had hoped for. She is lonely and wants a simple, happy family life. So she is easily pulled into Scarlets web of lies and deceit. The plot thickens and I encourage you to read this novel. I found it difficult to put down. A great psychological mystery that was clear, concise and I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end!

Lisa kept me guessing and my jaw dropped multiple times. Her ability to convey a range of emotions that a human can experience simultaneously is remarkable. There is a poetry to her prose nearly as if the words themselves are a painting.

I wish I could return it for a refund. it just dragged. the timeline was confusing, and it was going to take way too long for me to become interested in the story. 0 stars would have been my preference
