“If you loved The Martian, you’ll go crazy for Weir’s latest.”—The Washington Post

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?

An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could deliver, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian—while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

This book has been an absolute joyride. From the highs of discovery and perfectly executed plans to the lows of disastrous unforeseen obstacles and sacrifice, this story was an absolutely incredible journey. I adore every lovable character, and I loved the thrill of discovering everything the Tau Ceti system had to offer alongside Ryland Grace. I will be revisiting this masterpiece many times in the future. Andy, you’re a rockstar. I can’t wait to get lost in more of your stories!!

It’s difficult to commit myself to a book- especially over 440 pages! But, I was hooked and looked forward to Grace’s next next thoughts with every page turn. Rocky is a good friend to have!

This story could easily fit into the Bobiverse, and that’s a great thing. It’s a breezy read, with plenty of science and tech. As always, it’s human condition we’re really talking about. It acknowledges the difficult times we live in while still holding on to hope—even as we stare into the yawning abyss.

This story was really great and draws you in from the start. I will say, the science aspects of the book were a challenge to wade through. Some I think was necessary, but maybe not SO MUCH. But the story was great and I chuckled out loud a number of times. I’m interested to see how this will get interpreted on-screen. It could either be really good or pretty awful. Time will tell.
  • Michael Bay interpretation of an Arthur C. Clarke story

It was fine. Simple, but fine. The science jargon was easy enough to follow, but I have no idea if anything he did was ‘real’. I’m not a scientist. Clever chap though.
