Description

A tender addition to the #1 bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, bridging the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin and A Court of Silver Flames.

Feyre, Rhysand, and their friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly altered world beyond, recovering from the war that changed everything. But Winter Solstice is finally approaching, and with it, the joy of a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, her concern for those dearest to her deepens. They have more wounds than she anticipated-scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.

Bridging the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin with the later books in the series, A Court of Frost and Starlight explores the far-reaching effects of a devastating war and the fierce love between friends.

There was absolutely no plot to this book.

I mean if you’ve read the first three you’re going to read this one too but it made me wonder if her contract with her publisher required a book before it was ready? It’s obviously setting up for the next book and I suppose it was like a nice relaxing cup of tea compared to the first three but don’t expect the sun, the moon and the stars.
  • The worst book in the series

After the other books this one really let me down. I was addicted to these books then I read this one and was just super bored. It’s also incredibly short.

Tone completely shifted with this book. I enjoyed parts of it but it felt like massive portions of character development were left incomplete and the ending seemed extremely rushed and unnatural.
  • Disappointed

Seems like this could have been condensed to a chapter or two in the final book in the series rather than it being a stand alone book on its own. Frankly disappointing that it was a separate book, particularly when it cost almost as much as the others, and yet extremely short! Felt like a way to get people who wanted to read the whole series to spend more money.

Fun, but not the same as the rest of the series.
  • Let down

Yeah I should have definitely skipped this book. Massive let down compared to other books in the series. I understand the aim of character building up but this book was a complete snooze fest.

Great, but an unnecessary break in tone. I majorly enjoy parts of it, but often found myself rushing to get back to the characters and storylines I cared about. It didn’t feel essential, but I’d still recommend it to fans of the series.

Boring. So so boring. I ended up just looking up summaries because I could not get myself to finish. And it’s a small book… I’m obsessed with the other books, but this one was definitely unnecessary. Had to skip.

I liked that there wasn’t a lot of battling going on in this book. It helped add more of a story line to everyone on who they really were.
