Description

A sweeping Regency historical novel from NYT best-selling author Patricia Rice… England, 1814: Can a determined woman prevent a scarred nobleman from destroying himself and the ones he loves? As the daughter of a village vicar, Penelope Carlisle has accepted a life of quiet duty and near-poverty—until her peaceful existence is upended by the arrival of Viscount Graham Trevelyan. Scarred in body and spirit, Trevelyan has returned to his ancestral lands with a young daughter and a need for vengeance. For the sake of his silent child, Penelope accepts the viscount’s proposal of a pragmatic alliance, while he reclaims his tarnished legacy and secures his daughter’s future. As she navigates his turbulent, aristocratic society, riddled with spies and assassins, she must summon a courage she never imagined she possessed. But as Graham’s pursuit of justice threatens to consume him, Penelope faces a perilous choice: stand by the man who can doom her home—or risk everything to save him from himself. Richly atmospheric and filled with unforgettable characters, this sweeping tale of survival, loyalty, and redemption brings Regency England vividly to life.

I loved this book. It was well written and secrets were not revealed until you get towards the end of the book. You think you have it figured out then it seems you could be wrong. Definitely recommend reading it.
