Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

If you’ve only ever seen Wuthering Heights on screen, you may have an image of Catherine and Heathcliff as the ultimate star-crossed lovers. But that’s just scratching the surface of this iconic Gothic romance. Emily Brontë’s only novel is an unabashedly dark tale of passion and revenge that created shockwaves upon its publication in 1847.

Without spoiling too much, the original Heathcliff is breathtakingly vengeful, cruel, and possessive, not the deeply misunderstood romantic hero of some adaptations. And Brontë’s story does not end happily ever after. After tragedy strikes, Heathcliff haunts the swirling mists of the Yorkshire moors, consumed with possessing a ghost. A must-read for fans of Gothic literature, this novel will appeal to anyone who loves a creepy story.

This book was honestly incredible. I absolutely loved the beautiful dialogue throughout the entire book, while also having the knowledge that all of the romances were toxic. Truly a beautiful piece of Gothic literature.

Most drama I have ever read. Characters repeated the same stuff over and over. They cannot make up their minds. Everyone dies. Not worth time reading.
  • Powerful

Strong characters, impressive story. Some of them a little whiny sometimes, but very real, at least. Very much alive.
  • Not for me.

I would have liked to like this book. But there was so much of hostility and depression in the first few chapters I had to give it up. I've got the news for hostility and depression. ;-)

What a tale and a treat to read. I pleasant change from my goto genres. The sentence structure was surprising and the language was life bringing to long deceased form and term. The overall was shocking and darkly sad. However, the resolve was appreciated.

When read, this book encourages gaining the possibility of accomplishment of the achievements obtained by them. All time spent is worth the time spent.

It’s too long, too depressing, too unrelenting. I think it’s one of the most tiresome books I have read in recent years.
