Description

A slow burn, hilarious and heartwarming romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly.

"A romance for the ages" —Tessa Bailey, bestselling author of It Happened One Summer

Kristen Peterson doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.

Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen—especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he'd be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it's harder and harder to keep him at arm's length.

The Friend Zone will have you laughing one moment and grabbing for tissues the next as it tackles the realities of infertility and loss with wit, heart, and a lot of sass.

I read this after reading “Just for the Summer” and while I can’t say I like this one better.. it grew on me. I started off hating Kristen and Josh for their respective “not like other girls” monologues. I definitely did not like Kristen for acting like she wasn’t cheating when she 100% was. But by the end of the book I was really rooting for them. I ended up seeing a lot more of myself than I’d care to admit in Kristen and Josh reminds me a little of my own fiance (who is also coincidentally named Josh). They ended feeling like real people and their story was very moving.
  • Sweet. Enduring. Heartbreaking.

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. It’s a very sweet, somewhat foreshadowed ending but worth the read.

Not a feel good read, the characters miscommunicate to the point that I was yelling at them and didn’t want them together anymore, boo. DNF

I really enjoyed this book, the highs and the lows. The only thing I would’ve changed is how dragged on one of the main issues is.
  • Entertaining

A very entertaining read with a happy ending. I didn’t care much for some of the explicit sex scenes, but still a good book. Glad I read it🤓
